What if I told you that you could be sitting on a potential customer gold mine?

Lots of businesses have an existing database – but many are failing to utilise this valuable information and data is like GOLD in a business.

Usually, these people have already used your services or interacted with your business so they probably already know and love you. You’ve done the hard work, now you just need to keep in touch with them, be helpful and see if you can assist with anything else.

Here are some tips on how best to use your database:

Identify, divide and conquer!
Firstly, identify your contacts and export them into excel; this way you can tidy it up and sort them into groups. Are they previous clients, suppliers or purchased a specific product? This way you can ensure they’re receiving the information that will best suit them.

Relatable content.
Not all subscribers are the same. Jono your electrician probably doesn’t care that you’re having a sale on a blowdry, but Sally who always has a blowdry on a Friday afternoon, would LOVE to know this! This is why sorting and tagging your database is important.

Keep in contact, but don’t flood them!
You want to keep in regular contact with your database, but don’t spam them! We recommend fortnightly emails with lots of useful information to keep you at the forefront of their minds.

Reward loyalty.
Customers who keep coming back are GOLD! And they definitely deserve to be celebrated for their loyalty. Why not thank them with a 10% off, or a free little gift for continually supporting your business. More than likely, they’re also giving you some great word of mouth (FREE!) marketing too!

Encourage signups!
Make sure you’re taking every opportunity to encourage people to sign up to your database. Have a subscription on your website, link it to your Facebook page, create an external landing page and make regular posts on socials reminding people they can sign up!

There are so many things you can do with your database to help grow your business. If you have an existing database, or you’d like to start growing one but aren’t sure where to start, we would love to help you! After all, growing successful businesses is kind of our thing, so is coffee, but that’s another story…

Happy growing and connecting!
