Do you have a marketing plan? No? We get it, sometimes forward planning seems a little overwhelming, so we just focus month to month, and sometimes we’re busy that month and the first thing to go is the marketing. But we’re here to tell you that whilst creating a marketing plan may seem overwhelming, the long term benefits are well worth it! We promise!

You don’t necessarily have to make a 12 month plan. If that seems a little too forward for you, then look at breaking it down to 6 months, or even quarterly. But know time invested now, will pay off in the future.

Before you can start making a plan for where you’re headed, it helps you understand your current strengths and weaknesses and where future opportunity may lay for you to analyse your position in the market.

Creating a marketing plan is all about setting goals! It helps to give your business clear direction, which in turn helps your staff understand what is expected of them and their role. If everyone knows where they’re headed then everyone is rowing the same way!

A marketing plan helps you understand your target audience. You’ll know who they are, what they like, and where they can be found in the advertising space. Knowing your ‘target persona’ helps you create a strategy that is going to be the most effective for that audience.

If you know who you’re selling to, you know where you need to be in the advertising space. That means you can devise what the best tactics are for your marketing! Not all platforms will be for you, and that’s ok! Your time and money is better spent where it’s going to grow your business.

And finally, a marketing plan is going to help you budget! A good marketing return on investment is 5:1, so if you spend $1000 on marketing and get $5000 in return, then you have a successful campaign.  A budget will also help you plan what you can afford to ensure your money is spent where it will be most effective in reaching your goals.

Of course, if the idea of creating an effective marketing plan still seems overwhelming, then you could always enlist the help of a marketing expert (that’s us!). Armed with industry knowledge, we’re already a few steps ahead, knowing where certain audiences can be found, what platforms are going to work best in reaching them and budgeting for a strong strategy that will help you reach your goals! And the best part? We actually LOVE it!
